The 2024 Nanjing Art Festival concluded with a special celebration at the Mendong historical and cultural zone from October 11 to 13. The event included over 70 performances and activities, along with 10 exhibitions, covering both classical and modern elements.

Since its opening in July, the festival has provided residents with a wide range of cultural activities, including theatrical shows, exhibitions, the University Art Season, and community events, greatly enhancing the city’s artistic atmosphere.

Nanjing is known as a city of museums and universities, with 67 museums of various sizes located within 51 universities. This year’s art festival featured coordinated exhibitions at university-based museums.

Notably, the Nanjing University Museum, with its rare bronze artifact from the Western Zhou Dynasty, the China Fingerprint Museum at Jiangsu Police Institute, and the Museum of Chinese Agricultural Civilization at Nanjing Agricultural University, attracted both students and the public.

As a key part of the art festival, 16 premium plays were performed in Nanjing, showcasing the city’s artistic vibe and drawing in more young tourists from other regions.

The small theater section featured immersive musical performance, magics show, dance, and digital exhibitions, offering audience fresh and unique experiences.

The festival’s closing session highlighted the Mendong area in southern Nanjing. Known for its 600-year-old Ming Dynasty city wall, historic buildings, traditional alleys, local cuisine and stylish boutiques, the area has become a must-visit spot for tourists.
