After four years of construction, the Yangzhou Grand Canal Theatre officially opened on July 18 and will host a series of great events soon.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the 144,700 sqm theatre took place in April 2018 and the soft opening began on April 18 this year.

The high-end, multifunctional structure includes four theatres named as Spring Flowers, Summer Bamboo, Autumn Leaves and Winter Snow respectively, which can accommodate up to 3,200 people. To the east of the venue will be a complex for cultural and tourism businesses, which has a floor area of 42,000 square meters and will open around the Spring Festival next year.

More than 50 performances were held here during three months of trial operation, attracting over 35,000 visitors. A new program to open at the end of July is to combine tea drinking with watching the shows. The venue will also be used to promote cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
