Jiangsu Province has launched an online tracing platform to strengthen the supervision of imported cold-chain foods amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
On January 13, some shoppers opened the platform’s miniprogram on their cellphone and then scanned the QR code of food sold at Sam's Club warehouse store in Nanjing’s Yuhuatai District. The miniprogram displayed full information of the product arrival, importer and nucleic acid test report results.
As part of the COVID-19 response measures, the platform provides comprehensive information of 2,051 production companies of cold-chain foods and 1,037 processing companies in the province. Food producers are required to use the platform to fill in the data of the source and flow of imported frozen poultry, livestock and aquatic products. The province has also introduced designated channels or areas for transportation, storage and selling of the products, which are separated from domestic products.
