Yangzhou announces 12 Grand Canal tourist attractions

Yangzhou announced top 12 tourist attractions related to the Grand Canal on the evening of August 10.

More than 360,000 people participated in the online voting in 22 days since the selection started on June 27.

The winning landmarks include Guazhou Ancient Ferry, Shaobo ancient town, which has the largest collection of venues that enabled the Grand Canal to be recognized as the UNESCO world heritage, and Slender West Lake, a prime tourist site with a 5A rating and also a National Cultural Tourism Demonstration Area.

Among the 12 winners, the Ming and Qing dynasties ancient town covers an area of 5.09 square kilometers, making it the largest and best-preserved historical town on China’s southeast coast.
