Expats participating in the Discovery Jiangsu Program, organized by the Information Office and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, visited Zhenjiang City on October 18 and 19.

The tour started at the Zhenjiang Museum, which is located at the foot of the Beigu Mountain and on the banks of the Yangtze River. International students in Jiangsu recited ancient poems in the opening ceremony before watching a show inspired by Zhao Yafu, a role model in China's poverty alleviation fight, at the Zhenjiang Theatre.

In the program, participants also learned about nijiaojiao, a traditional clay whistle and intangible cultural heritage, from Zhou Baokang, a master of the craft. During a performance, a student from Zimbabwe played guqin, a Chinese musical instrument.

The 2-day tour also included visits to the Zhenjiang Vinegar Culture Museum, the Xijin Ferry site and an agricultural park.

A program to reach the expats community, Discover Jiangsu helps foreigners take tours around the coastal province and personally engage in various experiences to better understand the culture, history, environment and economic development.
