A ceremony was held at Nanjing Lukou International Airport on May 1 to mark the opening of the direct flight to Kashgar in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The same day return flights are on Wednesdays and Saturdays, operated by China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu Limited.
The coastal province has a close cooperation with the region’s Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture, north of Kashgar. Since 2010, Jiangsu has sent 798 officials in four groups to the prefecture, supported 506 projects, and invested over 5.348 billion yuan. Such efforts have contributed significantly to the development in the border area and the country’s overall growth.
The direct flight from Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu, is expected to strengthen the exchange, promoting the development of various undertakings in the remote prefecture.
