Jiangsu’s A-grade tourist attractions will no longer need to hold up to 75 percent of their visitor capacities during the upcoming holidays as COVID-19 restrictions are eased.

Local authorities have the final say on the number of visitors admitted to scenic spots, according to a statement of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism on March 31.

The department also urges more goal-orientated efforts for effective COVID-19 response and also stay alert to latest updates to promote the recovery of culture and tourism.

China's tourist attractions are graded on a scale from A to AAAAA, based on a series of criteria at the tourist site, including ease of transportation, sanitary conditions and safety.

Tourist attractions at grade A in Jiangsu are required to strengthen visitor flow management and improve safety tips and signs. Safety efforts should also be stepped up in geological disaster-prone areas and sites that have gone viral on the Internet. Travel agencies and online tourism enterprises have been urged to cooperate with qualified suppliers and partners, and there should be safety assessments of tourism routes.
