Wu Zhenglong, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the province’s governor, announced the start of service of the Yancheng-Nantong High-speed Railway on December 30.
With a speed up to 350 km/h, the new railway links Yancheng with Dongtai, Haian, Rugao and Nantong cities, becoming an important connection between high-speed railway networks on both sides of the Yangtze River.
Wu paid tribute to construction workers and wished them a happy new year. He also said the new line marked a milestone in building the province’s coastal railway network and will contribute to the development of Jiangsu as well as the Yangtze River Delta.
Wu also urged efforts to speed up the high-quality development of railways, meet people's aspirations for a better life, and make Jiangsu a pioneer in the transport sector in order to contribute to the country’s new development pattern.
