With the theme of "Green Transformation, Empowering the Future", the 2020 China New Energy Summit opened in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province on September 7.
The forum brought together authorities, leading enterprises and industry elites in the field of new energy to promote cooperation and exchanges, and aimed to integrate innovative resources and fuel the future development of Yancheng.
Yancheng reached cooperation agreements with domestic and foreign new energy enterprises including 22 projects with a total investment of 51.9 billion yuan. These projects cover the whole spectrum of the industry, such as design and R&D, equipment manufacturing, operation and maintenance services.
Yancheng has the longest coastline in Jiangsu, the widest sea area, the largest mudflat wetland, and the richest marine resources. The average wind speed 100 meters off the coast and offshore measure 7.6 and 8 meters per second respectively, and the equivalent full load is estimated at 3,000-3,600 hours. Such advantages make Yancheng one of the best destinations in Jiangsu or even in China to develop offshore wind farm.
Jiangsu has a planned offshore wind power capacity of 14.6 million kilowatts and 61 wind farms. In Yancheng alone, the plan is to build 35 wind farms and develop the capacity of 8.22 million kilowatts, 56 percent of the total in Jiangsu and 11 percent of the total in China. It’s safe to say Yancheng is the core player in Jiangsu’s wind power strategy.
Currently, Yancheng has completed 13 offshore wind power projects with an installed capacity of 2.913 million kilowatts, accounting for half of the China’s total and 10 percent of the world's total. Amid the booming development, the city has won many honors, such as one of China's first new energy demonstration cities and a pilot city for wind power industrial cluster at the state level.
