Huai'an Airport handled 2.3477 million passengers and 10,259 tons of cargo in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 54.82 percent and 63.21 percent, respectively, according to the airport on January 13.

The airport took efforts to improve the flight network and service quality, adding new routes to Yinchuan, Shantou and Wuhan in 2019. Currently, the airport has flights to 28 cities including two international routes. It handled over 20,000 flights in last year.

With the arrival of flight MU2870 of China Eastern Airlines on December 22, the airport handled over 10,000 tons of cargo in the year.

As of the end of 2019, the Huai'an-Xi'an all-cargo route reported 202 flights, with the load factor at over 80 percent, amid the airport’s development into an air cargo hub.
