In the first five months of this year, Jiangsu’s imports and exports with Honduras reached 570 million yuan, an increase of 44.8% year-on-year, according to Nanjing Customs.
To facilitate trade, officers from Nantong Customs House, affiliated to Nanjing Customs District, visited the Nantong branch of China International Marine Containers Ltd (CIMC Nantong) on June 25. The purpose of the visit was to conduct research on exports and enhance customs clearance services.
CIMC Nantong’s manager Ding Jinlin said Honduras is a new market with significant growth. The company has exported 414 45-foot containers worth more than $5 million to the country this year.
Ding also noted that the cargo transport industry is booming in Central American countries, particularly Honduras, which has led to increased demand for 45-foot dry cargo containers. The company expects that its export orders will continue rising.
To improve customs clearance efficiency, Nantong Customs House has consistently enhanced its procedures and coordination, improved communication with enterprises, and provided customized policy support for cargoes such as containers and special equipment.
As a result of these efforts, the city’s foreign trade with Honduras in the first five months of the year increased by 140.4% year-on-year to 59.72 million yuan.
