A delegation led by Wuxi Mayor Zhao Jianjun visited South Korea on May 7 and 8 to promote economic and trade cooperation.
During the visit, the group held the China-South Korea (Wuxi) Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Exchange in Seoul and visited top enterprises including SK, LS and LG. The delegation witnessed the signing of 24 projects with a total investment of about $1.97 billion.
At the exchange meeting, Zhao called for the early implementation of cooperation projects, especially in the fields of integrated circuits, new energy and biomedicine, as South Korea has advantages in these sectors and Wuxi also has a solid foundation in these fields.
Zhao stressed the importance of supporting exchanges among tech firms, research institutes, and schools from the two sides in key technology fields, such as information and communication, intelligent manufacturing, ecological and environmental protection.
More efforts are needed to explore new cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, education, sports and healthcare, and facilitate the people-to-people exchange for mutual understanding, according to Zhao.
