Jiangsu created a total of 110,000 new jobs in its urban areas in January, accounting for more than 10% of the national total and ranking first among province-level regions. The private sector contributed 86.4% of the achievement, thanks to a slew of support measures since last year.
The measures included providing unsecured loans up to 30 million yuan and preferential interest rate to private enterprises and startups. These efforts helped the province to maintain stable employment growth for nine consecutive months.
To assist key companies in resuming operation after the Spring Festival holiday, Jiangsu also arranged 5 chartered flights, 20 chartered train services, and more than 1,200 long-distances buses to transport more than 55,000 employees directly. The province also facilitated job fairs at parks, supermarkets and transport hubs.
The number of jobs released by public employment service providers in February increased by 13.3% year-on-year. As of February 15, the total number of enterprise employees had increased by 120,000 compared to one year ago.
Nanjing Normal University Xianlin Campus hosted the city's first job fair on February 16 specially for college graduates. More than 30 companies, including Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group and Sinopec Nanjing Branch, offered more than 800 positions. There will be more than 1,000 such recruitment activities scheduled throughout the province.
