Under supervision of Yangzhou Customs, a roll-on/roll-off passenger (RoPax) vessel built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) Co Ltd started its journey to the Baltic Sea on December 2.
The vessel features a length of 230 meters and a breadth of 31 meters, with a capacity of 866 passengers and over 200 trucks and trailers. The vessel is powered by LNG, which will have 50% fewer emissions than previous generation of vessels.
Jinling Shipyard has delivered 17 ro-ro vessels this year and still holds the order for 31 such ships, making it the biggest ship-maker in China for ro-ro vessels.
Ship manufacturing is a pillar industry in Yangzhou, and this include bulk carriers, cruise ships and container ships. According to statistics, Yangzhou Customs supervised the export of 40 new ships, with a value of about 10.1 billion yuan, in the period from January to November.
