Loaded with glass products, plastic products and mother and baby essentials produced by enterprises in Xuzhou City, a China-Europe freight train departed the city’s Huaihai International Land Port Railway Distribution Center on July 29 for Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

The departure marked the first China-Europe freight train from Xuzhou to the neighboring country of China. This is also the first time for Xuzhou enterprises to transport exports to Vietnam by railway, which will pass Pingxiang port that borders Vietnam in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It will take about seven days to complete the journey of 2,985 kilometers, about half of the time needed for river-sea transport option.

Vietnam is a member country of RCEP and an important destination in China's Belt and Road Initiative, especially the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. It’s also a key trade partner in ASEAN countries. As Xuzhou has a steady foreign trade with the region, efforts will be made to promote the regular operation of the freight train service.
