The cargo will soon be transported by a special railway line to Xuzhou Port before they are distributed to other ports via waterway.
This milestone means the two stations in Xuzhou’s Huaihai International Land Port program – Tonshan and Yangtun stations – are both handling return trains. Previously, the imported freight needed to be transported by trucks to Xuzhou Port before starting the waterway transfer. This development will also help cut logistics cost for enterprises.
In recent years, efforts have been made to facilitate the multimodal program that combines the freight train and waterway service. The number of China-Europe freight train trips in Xuzhou has surpassed 400 per year. In the first half of the year, more than 4,500 TEUs were transported by trucks to Xuzhou Port.
The railway line linking Yangtun Station and Xuzhou Port will attract more enterprises to distribute their goods through this cost-effective channel, thus optimizing the logistics solutions and strengthening the advantage for foreign trade.
