Suzhou celebrated its first Entrepreneurs Day designated on July 21 amid efforts to improve the business environment. 

The CPC Suzhou Committee and the city’s government issued an open letter to pay tribute to the business community. Suzhou sees enterprises of various types, from private to state-owned and from local to foreign-invested firms, all as the city’s partners, according to the letter.  

By the end of 2021, Suzhou had 749,000 private enterprises with a total registered capital of 4.76 trillion yuan. The city has always secured first place in Jiangsu Province in terms of the number of companies recognized on rankings of China’s top 500 enterprises, top 500 private enterprises and top 500 manufacturing enterprises.  

The city also released its own rankings of top 100 private firms and top 100 private innovation-driven firms in 2022.
