RAYCAN Technology Co Ltd (Suzhou) became one of five first-ever winners of WIPO’s new Global Awards program, which recognizes exceptional enterprises and individuals using intellectual property (IP) to make a positive impact at home and abroad.
In an awards ceremony on July 19, Daren Tang, Director General of The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), handed trophies to representatives of the five winners, including RAYCAN’s general manager Chen Fang and IP director Wang Kan.
Jiangsu has three companies on the list of top 20 performers in the WIPO Global Awards program. RAYCAN specializes in the development and production of radiation detection and imaging equipment.
Chen said the company founded 13 years ago now has some 20 employees.
Wang said RAYCAN has applied for more than 340 patents and also obtained permission for using nearly 180 patents, including 60 foreign patents.
Among the company’s competitive products is the application of Professor Xie Qingguo’s patent for high-efficiency, high-performance digital PET, digital animal PET and clinical PET. The new technology will play a valuable role in early diagnosis and precise treatment for tumors, neurological disorders and cardiovascular diseases.
Wang said the company has an IP department and relevant measures formulated to promote IP progress and innovation-driven growth at the start of its establishment. Wang said he sees greater development opportunities ahead as China encourages high-value inventions.
In recent years, Jiangsu has enhanced support for IP development such as the “high-value patent cultivation” program and an initiative to improve industrial upgrade through the IP application.
