Yancheng City in Jiangsu Province unveiled its supercomputing center as well as a number of new development projects in digital economy at a local forum on July 19.  

High performance computing, or supercomputing, is vital to the development of data-driven economy. The new center will provide a range of modeling and simulation tests and digital solutions for enterprises, such as those in the new energy and automotive fields. Yancheng hopes to help companies reduce R&D costs and improve their efficiency. 

The city’s digital industry has flourished in recent years as it builds a cluster of leading enterprises. It’s also home to the High-Throughput Computer Research Center, part of the CAS Institute of Computing Technology, known for its SmarCo supercomputer system that ranked first on Green Graph500 list.
