Executives of 12 foreign-funded enterprises, including Dell Technologies and LG Chem New Energy Battery, introduced the business development and operations at the meeting. They also made suggestions on issues of supply chain, environmental protection, energy consumption, COVID-19 measures towards inbound personnel, and talent policies.
Wang Lijun, corporate senior vice president of Dell China, said the company is mostly concerned about building a resilient and flexible supply chain. He said the information and communication technologies (ICT) industry faces unprecedented challenges including the increasingly complex supply chain management due to COVID-19 outbreaks and other reasons. As the ICT sector will inevitably undergo green and smart transformation, the company looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Jiangsu, said Wang.
Chen Bing, general manager of Ford Motor Research and Engineering in Nanjing, said the pandemic has increased the enterprise's expenditure. He also hoped the government can establish a platform to support reopening efforts and also provide authoritative information to the businesses so they can make informed decisions on production and manufacturing.
At the meeting, Fei Gaoyun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and executive vice governor, introduced the province’s efforts to coordinate COVID-19 prevention and control with economic and social development.
Fei also said Jiangsu will make greater efforts to support the development of foreign investment and encourage the opening of headquarters and functional institutions in the province. Jiangsu will improve services, promote the communication between the government and companies, and respond to concerns of the business community in a timely fashion.
Efforts will also be made to expand the opening-up of the services sector, align the local economic and trade rules with international practices, and make Jiangsu a top investment destination in the world, said Fei.
