Xu Kunlin, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and acting governor, presided over a meeting on the effective use of special fund established to support emerging industries with strategic importance on November 17.

Xu said establishing the special fund is a practical measure to promote high-quality development and boost innovation. The province should seize the development opportunity featuring integrated digital transformation and advance the application of Internet, Big Data and artificial intelligence. Such efforts will accelerate the upgrading of the manufacturing industry model, help industries move up the value chain, and achieve high-quality development.

Xu also said it’s important to support platforms for innovation and major industrial projects through effective use of the special fund as incentive and guidance. Jiangsu needs to make concerted efforts in technology research and development, talent training, platform construction, technology transfer and commercialization.

The province needs to take advantage of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, strengthen basic research of original innovation, provide high-level science and technology supply, support the innovation-driven growth of micro, small and medium-sized companies, and enhance the overall response against risks in industrial chain and supply chain.
