According to the new energy vehicle industry blueprint during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangsu aims to increase its annual production capacity to 500,000 NEVs, said the province’s Department of Industry and Information Technology on November 16.
In 2020, Jiangsu’s output of NEVs was 96,000, about 7% of the country's total. Its power battery output for the domestic market totaled 33.6GWh, accounting for 40.3% of the total in China and ranking first in the country.
Statistics show that as of the end of last year, the province had promoted 274,000 NEVs, and built charging piles in 198 expressway service areas and 1,073 towns and villages.
According to the plan, NEVs sales will account for 20% of the total vehicles sales by 2025. The province will also install 800,000 charging piles, among which 200,000 are for public drivers. There will also be 500 battery-exchange stations and 100 commercial hydrogen refueling stations.
Jiangsu's NEV production will account for more than 50 percent of total vehicle production by 2035, and highly autonomous vehicles and fuel cell vehicles will be put into commercial application on a large scale.
The province will also accelerate the development of a national-level Internet of Vehicles pilot zone in Wuxi City. Key cities including Nanjing, Changzhou, Suzhou, Nantong and Yancheng will step up efforts of digital transformation.
