Xu Kunlin, acting governor of Jiangsu Province, called for comprehensive efforts to continue the hard-won progress in fight against the COVID-19 pandemic during a video conference on Oct 21.
Xu said the recent resurgence in some domestic regions has posed great challenges and uncertainties in the prevention and control of the pandemic, especially with the advent of autumn and winter. It’s important to strengthen pandemic response measures in key places, safeguard people's lives and health, and support the economic and social development.
Xu also stressed the need to get well-informed, improve analysis and assessment, make full use of Big Data, and strengthen the monitoring and early warning. It’s necessary to give full play to the role of fever clinics, pharmacies and hospitals in the early finding and timely reporting, and implement the system that requires the first diagnosis to hold responsibility. Efforts should also be strengthened to protect the health of people working in tourism, transportation and catering.
Jiangsu will effectively enhance the emergency response as well as capacities of nucleic acid testing, epidemiological investigation and medical treatment, ensuring the renovation progress for quarantine and logistics. Meanwhile, the province will promote vaccination to cover more people, release information in a timely manner, and call for the public to take personal protection.
