The western extension of Nanjing Metro Line 2 has been under test without passengers on board for over one month, a key procedure before the commercial operation. Much efforts have been made to turn this new section into a fusion of cool technology and designs.

The line’s Yuzui Station features a glass façade to maximize transparency, the first of its kind in China’s urban rail transit system.

Entrances and exits have put into use an intelligent lighting system that brings natural light into the venue. The system automatically dims or adjusts the brightness of light in response to the sunlight level, a great way for energy efficiency and conservation.

The stations are also equipped with cool technology and devices to improve travelling experience. The turnstiles are not only of the latest type but also highlight Nanjing’s cultural identities. The self-service ticket machines provide comprehensive functions to passengers.

The design of the Yuzui Station is inspired by the traditional Chinese festival Er Yue Er, or the second day of the second month on the Chinese lunar calendar. Chinese people call it the day when the "dragon raises its head," meaning the spring awakens after winter hibernation. This station’s design pays tribute to traditional farming and people’s wish for good weather and bumper harvest.

Inside the station is a stunning artwork, made up of 81 LED lights. The dragon-shaped creation can show a variety of dynamic forms under the control of a computer program.
