The "Jiangsu Week" event at Expo 2020 Dubai started on Oct 18 with the opening ceremony held online and on-site in Nanjing and Dubai.

Making full use of Big Data, artificial intelligence and livestreaming, Jiangsu Week will include ten programs, such as a photography exhibition, a show of intangible cultural heritage and a promotion of the China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Zone located in the Khalifa Industrial Zone.

In recent years, Jiangsu has kept close cooperation with the UAE and other countries in the Belt and Road Initiative. The province’s foreign trade with the Middle East reached $23.44 billion in 2020.

Invested by Jiangsu Overseas Cooperation Investment Co Ltd (JOCIC), the demonstration zone started in 2017 and has so far attracted 11 enterprises to settle, with a committed investment of $980 million.

The event’s opening ceremony also saw the signing of deals between the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group to establish a center of vocational education and training in the demonstration zone. The College of Business and Economics at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) also signed a MOU with JOCIC.

In addition, the China Pavilion of Expo 2020 Dubai, one of the largest at the expo, features Ye Chun Teahouse, a century-old brand representing the best of Huaiyang cuisine.
