On June 23, the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute signed a MOU with the University of Liverpool for strategic cooperation and a framework agreement with Brunel University London for a joint doctoral training program.
British Ambassador to China Caroline Wilson, British Consul General in Shanghai Chris Wood and Liu Qing, president of the research institute joined the heads of British universities to attend the event.
Caroline Wilson said that there is a broad space for cooperation between the UK and Jiangsu in S&T, health care and low-carbon development. Through extensive collaboration among universities, the two sides can better cope with global challenges.
The five-year agreement between the institute and the University of Liverpool aims to explore cooperation opportunities for industrial technology R&D and also facilitate the launch of research projects. The agreement with Brunel University London will focus on projects of advanced technology and extensive application prospect and aim to train leading talents in innovation and entrepreneurship.
In the roundtable meeting, experts and scholars from more than 10 universities and research institutes, including the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, exchanged views on how to deepen cooperation in areas such as S&T innovation and low-carbon development amid the impact of COVID-19.
