The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has announced six cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Changsha and Wuxi – as the first batch of pilot cities for the collaborative development of smart urban infrastructure and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs).
Wuxi made it to the list for its solid foundation and progress in the fields. It was approved by the State Council to build the sole national sensor network innovation demonstration zone in 2009. It’s also a pilot city for new type of smart city initiative. Wuxi is a world-leading city to deploy C-V2X, which facilitates real-time communication between traffic-related elements, over 350 square kilometers of urban area. In 2019, Wuxi became home to China’s first national pilot zone for intelligent connected vehicles. Over two years, the city has made strides in expanding the scale and application, both for business and non-profit purposes.
