Jiangsu eyes GDP growth of 6% this year: government work report

In delivering the government work report on January 26, Jiangsu governor Wu Zhenglong outlined the province’s economic and social development goals for this year.

In 2021, Jiangsu aims at an economic growth of more than 6% and a rise of approximately 4.5% for general public budget revenue, according to the report delivered at the annual session of the provincial legislature.

The province will also strengthen efforts to focus on quality in foreign trade and using foreign investment. Jiangsu plans to create 1.2 million new jobs and control the surveyed unemployment rate in urban areas within 5%.

Efforts will be made to increase the per capita disposable income of residents, manage the increase of consumer price index (CPI) around 3%, and reduce energy consumption per unit of GDP by about 3%.

The province will also ensure a steady growth of grain area and yield and make progress in workplace safety.
