Lianyungang promotes its agricultural industry at CIIE

The Jiangsu (Lianyungang) Food and Agricultural Products Import and Export Matchmaking Conference, held in Shanghai during the third China International Import Expo (CIIE), has reported success of 26 projects entering into cooperation with a total trade volume of $260 million.

A total of 306 organizations and 1,199 professional visitors from the coastal city participated the CIIE. Among the 26 agreed projects are importing of wine and exporting of edible mushrooms and perilla.

Fang Wei, mayor of Lianyungang, said at the conference that the city has distinctive strengths in agricultural industry and foreign trade of agricultural products, ranking among the top in Jiangsu. Lianyungang has also increased efforts in opening up.

From January to September, foreign trade of agricultural products in Lianyungang reached $1.15 billion, second highest in Jiangsu. The city also enjoys other policy advantages as it plays host to China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone, comprehensive bonded zone, cross-border e-commerce pilot zone, and agricultural opening up and cooperation pilot zone. Lianyungang has introduced new policy support and innovated cargo service using the China-Europe freight trains to promote the comprehensive and high-quality development of agriculture.
