A commencement ceremony was held on January 13 for a number of key projects to start in the first quarter of this year in Qinhuai District, Nanjing.
Lin Tao, Party chief of Qinhuai District and also director of the South New Town Development and Construction Administrative Committee, said the district will launch 98 major projects with a planned total investment of 22.5 billion yuan.
With a total floor area of 216,800 square meters, the 2.66-billion-yuan ($386-million) China-Finland Cooperation and Exchange Center will include a convention center, a hotel, a Grade-A office building, a center for displaying low-carbon ecology and smart city management, and a multi-functional exhibition hall. Construction of the center will start next month.
Nanjing Foreign Language School’s project, which will start construction in March, involves a planned investment of 3.56 billion yuan in the southeast of the South New Town, occupying an area of 9.33 hectares and boasting a floor area of 190,000 square meters. It will be comprised of classrooms, rooms for other activities assisting teaching, public facilities and a fitness center.
The ceremony also marked the start of an intelligent transportation industry park to be located in the Nanjing Baixia High-Tech Zone.
