Jiangsu organized over 9,100 units and nearly 40,000 buyers to place purchase orders for a variety of products, from high-end equipment to daily necessities, at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10.
As the world's first national-level exposition dedicated to imports, CIIE serves as a stage for multinational companies to showcase their products and services, providing an excellent opportunity for Chinese importers.
Jiangsu Redsun International Health Agriculture Co., Ltd., which has participated in the CIIE for six consecutive years, regards the fair as a platform for communication and exchange, said Yan Li, director of the company's meat division. Yan added that exhibitors at the CIIE are all reputable suppliers in their regions and ensure product quality and brand recognition.
Gu Xiaoyang, the fresh produce director of Jiangyin-based Jimailong, said the company placed orders for differentiated and cost-effective products, including flour from Kazakhstan and apples from Ethiopia, with details such as payment methods and logistics to be discussed later.
In addition to daily consumer goods, Jiangsu enterprises were also keen on purchasing industrial products, such as high-end equipment. On November 6, DuPont signed a cooperation agreement with the Zhangjiagang Bonded Area in Suzhou for a high-performance specialty lubricants project. In September of last year, DuPont opened an adhesives production facility in Zhangjiagang after it reached an agreement with Zhangjiagang at the first CIIE in 2018. The project is one of the earliest successful cases of CIIE exhibitors becoming investors in China.
At the city level, the Taizhou delegation completed a $50 million soybean procurement order, while the Suzhou delegation’s “shopping cart” included many gourmet items. More than half of the buyers in the Wuxi delegation were from the technical equipment and automotive sectors.
