Jiangsu convened its annual work conference on housing and urban-rural development on January 31 and February 1, outlining the province’s priorities in 2024.
Jiangsu will boost efforts to preserve architectural culture. This includes developing a digital platform for historical heritage and the protection of historical towns and villages through 2035.
The province will continuously improve the quality and efficiency of urban sewage treatment, with plans to expand capacity by 800,000 cubic meters daily and build or renovate more than 1,500 kilometers of sewage pipes.
Jiangsu is set to advance initiatives aimed at making the countryside more livable and beautiful. It will continue renovating houses facing safety risks for rural low-income earners, bolster the protection of traditional villages, and promote the pilot program of protecting traditional village clusters holistically.
The province will kick off the renovation of 1,060 old, dilapidated neighborhoods within the year, benefiting about 253,000 residents.
The province will further facilitate car parking, especially in key urban areas. In addition, Jiangsu will advance the construction of parks, urban greenways and green waterfronts in 2024.
