The key commercial circulation enterprises achieved cumulative sales of about 5.658 billion yuan during the Spring Festival holiday from February 10 to 17, an increase of 9.2% year-on-year.
Data revealed a trend towards more integrated development among retail, cultural, sports and tourism sectors to satisfy diverse consumer needs. In Nanjing, 34 large-scale stadiums opened to the public. Sports-themed programs within commercial complexes also experienced peak sales during the holiday.
The province stimulated the holiday consumer economy by hosting more than 2,300 activities and distributing vouchers worth 380 million yuan.
The catering industry reported a surge in providing affordable meals and signature dishes. For example, more than 40 catering brands in Nanjing offered over 300 types of Spring Festival Eve dinner sets and takeaway options.
Additionally, major e-commerce platforms, live e-commerce sessions, and O2O local life service platforms provided discounts and special deals, contributing to the festive atmosphere.
"Consumer market dynamics mirror China's economic development, and the vibrant Spring Festival market indicates the continuous recovery trend of China's economy,” said Professor Wu Fuxiang of Nanjing University Business School.
