Nanjing Lukou International Airport prepares for summer travel peak

Nanjing Lukou International Airport has opened new flight routes or increased flight frequencies as Chinese tourists are likely to travel to more overseas destinations in the summer.

As of June 18, the airport had operated 117 international and regional flights per week, rebounding to 52.5% of the level in 2019. This included 25 routes to 9 countries and regions, with daily flights to and from top destinations including Thailand, South Korea and Macao.

The airport plans to increase the number of flights with Hong Kong, Macao, Tokyo and Singapore. Starting from July 18, Nanjing will resume the round trips with Sydney after as suspension of 3.5 years due to the pandemic, filling the gap of an intercontinental route in Oceania.

To ensure efficient and convenient customs clearance, the airport has added self-checking machines for health declaration and also provided comprehensive services for independent temperature measurement, information modification, automatic auditing, and self-printing of customs clearance statements.

From January to May this year, customs at the airport supervised 3,426 inbound and outbound flights with 725,500 passenger trips, an increase of 5.3 times and 26.5 times respectively. The number of inbound and outbound passengers in May was already close to the annual figure of 2022.
