Jiangsu's CPPCC National Committee members pledge to fulfill duties

President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, took part in a deliberation with his fellow deputies from the delegation of Jiangsu Province, at the first session of the 14th National People's Congress, on the afternoon of March 5. The province's members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) closely followed the meeting and pledged to better fulfill their duties in contributing to the country's development.

During the deliberation, Zhou Zhihua, director of the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Nanjing University, said that he will be committed to conducting original research in artificial intelligence, promoting the technological breakthrough, and fostering the academia-industry partnership to contribute to Jiangsu's leading role in AI.

Zhang Qiao, deputy director of the Jiangsu Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, also deputy mayor of Suzhou, has prepared three proposals related to the real economy. Zhang said he will strengthen the exchange and cooperation with members of the science and technology and economic sectors, and discuss with other members the development of the real economy and the sci-tech innovation.

Jiang Pengju, deputy director of the Jiangsu Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, also deputy mayor of Changzhou City, said he will expand contacts with the people, remain committed to innovation, and accelerate the establishment of pro-innovation platforms in intelligent equipment, carbon fiber, new energy, among others.

In the view of Sun Libin, president of Linkage Group, efforts are needed to promote the digital transformation of industry and commercialization of digital technologies, advance the development of the real economy and rural vitalization, and accelerate the pace to build a new development pattern.

Zhang Ganlin, deputy director of the Jiangsu Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, also director of the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, said he will focus on issues related to people's living environment in the rural rea, animal husbandry, food production, specialty agricultural products, and non-point source pollution.

Liu Yun, president of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, said he hopes to improve clinical treatment, technical support for primary-level health institutions, and the public health system for disease prevention and control.
