A video of a power plant worker in Yancheng City climbing a 53-meter tower to rescue an oriental white stork on February 19 went viral on the Internet.
Local villagers reported that a bird was trapped on the tower, then the local power supply company and police rushed to the rescue.
It was found that the bird was an oriental white stork, which is under first-class national protection in China.
The bird had broken its leg and is now receiving treatment at a rescue center.
