The World Coastal Forum (WCF) 2023 will be held in Yancheng, according to a seminar of the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP14) held in an onsite-online hybrid format in Wuhan, China and Geneva, Switzerland on Nov. 8.
The seminar was co-hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, BirdLife International and the Eco Foundation Global.
Zhang Xinsheng, president of the preparatory work group for the forum and former president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), said the aim is to turn WCF into a platform for knowledge sharing and exchange in order to promote the conservation, management and ecological restoration of coastal wetlands.
The Ministry of Natural Resources actively supports the WCF to facilitate global cooperation in coastal ecology, exchange of innovative ideas and practices among countries in green development, said Wang Hong, vice-minister of the ministry.
