A new railway line that opened on August 2 has cut the travel time between Nanjing and Yancheng cities to less than two hours.

Before the opening of 6-kilo-long branch line in Madian town of Huai’an city, it would took passengers about 3.5 hours to travel from Yancheng to Nanjing via a conventional train or 2.5 hours to transit to high-speed train.

The new branch line now reduces the Yancheng-Nanjing train journey by 24 kilometers and ticket price by about 10 yuan. Meanwhile, this new line helps Yancheng get more closely linked to central cities of the Yangtze River Delta, with travelling from Yancheng to Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Zhenjiang cities by bullet trains being shortened by about 30 minutes.
