The 2023 Suzhou Marathon will be held on March 26, with approximately 25,000 runners in three programs - full marathon, half marathon, and family run, according to a press conference on February 15.
Hosted by the Suzhou Municipal People's Government and organized by the city's Sports Bureau, the route will link several tourist attractions and landmarks such as the Moat River, Grand Canal, Jinji Lake, Hanshan Temple, and Xiyuan Temple. Runners will also pass commercial areas, such as Harmony Times Square.
Inspired by the unique begonias-style window in classical gardens of Suzhou, the medal features the iconic Gate of the Orient and historic landmark Tiger Hill Pagoda, along with patterns honoring the Grand Canal.
The press conference also showcased official jersey for the race and energy gels that highlight Suzhou-style pastries and other local delicacies.
