Suzhou's foreign trade value in 2022 topped 2.572 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 1.6%, accounting for 6.1% of China's total and 47.2% of the total volume in Jiangsu Province, according to Suzhou Customs.
Suzhou's exports reached more than 1.547 trillion yuan last year, the third largest among cities in the country.
Trade by foreign-invested enterprises in Suzhou amounted to 1.594 trillion yuan, 62% of the city's total. Private enterprises achieved imports and exports worth 827.1 billion yuan, an increase of 11.9%, and this accounted for 32.2% of the city's total.
The United States remained Suzhou's largest export destination, 20.9% of the total, followed by the EU, at 18.7%. Suzhou's exports to ASEAN and Japan reached 206.98 billion yuan and 117.35 billion yuan respectively, up 11.2% and 4.2% year-on-year.
Suzhou's exports of cell phones saw a strong growth of 70.2% last year.
