Jiangsu has stored more than 7.1 billion kilograms of paddy rice, 79% of the expected purchase volume, according to the province’s Bureau of Food and Strategic Reserves on December 26.
This included 2.75 billion kilograms of paddy rice bought by state-owned enterprises and the rest by other market entities.
The overall purchase price has been relatively stable since the fall grain hit the market. To help farmers sell their harvest, Jiangsu has promoted the use of an app that shows the price changes and facilitates selling, drying and other services. The app has more than 30,000 users with a total of 885,000 visits.
