Jiangsu Province will host 18 events to mark the 85th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre around December 13, designated as the national memorial day for the victims of the massacre in 1937.

At 10:00 am on December 13, the national memorial ceremony will take place at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanjing.

Other programs include organizing the bereaved family members to pay tribute to the victims, making visits to survivors of the massacre, and increasing public awareness of the city's regulation for the national memorial ceremony.

The six other events on the memorial day include ceremony to raise the national flag and lower it to half mast, simultaneous activities in the city's districts and China's museums associated with the resistance war against Japanese aggression, commemoration held abroad, world peace prayer and candlelight vigil.

The commemoration will be held in more than 70 countries and regions. Featuring peace as the main theme through concert, reading relay, and message wall installed at subway stations, it will also highlight online-onsite interaction, during which netizens are encouraged to participate in the reading relay conducted by the city's 85 university students.

Cultural and artistic works will be launched to mark the anniversary, including a Spanish version of "The History of the Nanjing Massacre."
