An online meeting was held on July 14 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the sister relationship between East China’s Jiangsu Province and Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan.
Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Chairman of the standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress said developing friendly ties is in line with the common interests of both sides. No matter how the external situation changes, Jiangsu and Fukuoka have always been committed to deepening friendship and cooperation.
Fukuoka, known as Japan's “gateway to Asia,” boasts competitive advantages in manufacturing and technological innovation. A major export-oriented economic powerhouse in China, Jiangsu stands out for a rich cultural heritage, a solid foundation of manufacturing industry, abundant scientific and educational resources, an excellent business environment, and a huge market. The two sides are obviously complementary, with great potential for cooperation.
Wu said Jiangsu is willing to work together with Fukuoka to implement the important consensus reached by heads of the two states and forge ahead as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations and the 30th anniversary of sister relationship between Jiangsu and Fukuoka.
Efforts should be made to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, environmental protection and culture, promote mutual benefits and win-win, and be the builder, guardian and contributor to the good-neighborly friendship between the two countries, Wu said.
Hailing the Jiangsu-Fukuoka Friendship Cherry Garden in Nanjing, Wu hopes the two regions can make more achievements and expand the benefits of cooperation to reach more people.
In the meeting via video link, Seitaro Hattori, governor of Fukuoka Prefecture acknowledged the extensive cooperation and fruitful results achieved since the start of sister relationship. He also expressed hopes for closer cooperation, friendship and win-win development.
Lyu Guijun, Chinese Consul General in Fukuoka, said he hopes the two sides can seize new opportunities to enhance partnership and make new contributions to Sino-Japanese relations in the new era.
