Led by the Department of Industry and Information Technology, Jiangsu Province is adopting multiple measures to ensure the charging service for electric vehicles.

Qinglong Shangfu in Jiangning District is the first among newly build neighborhoods in Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu, to build an exemplary charging station, which includes 65 charging poles and has kept a stable operation for six months. During the electricity use peak in winter, Nanjing branch of State Grid capped the power supply of 780 kWh on a single day to ensure the safe running of the area’s substation equipment.

As more and more people use new energy vehicles, there is an increasing demand for easy and accessible charging service. Relevant departments at all levels in Jiangsu have stepped up efforts to meet the demand.

In Nanjing, 2,300 charging poles were installed in 26 new residential areas, enough to charge electric vehicles that are estimated to occupy 10% of the parking lots. Nanjing also plans to install 4,074 charging poles in 42 new residential areas this year.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Information Technology is taking the lead in revising a regulation over the construction and operation of charging and battery swapping facilities in the province.

Efforts have been made to increase planning of such public facilities across the province’s cities, build a platform to monitor their operations, and also develop a province-wide app to offer the charging service. The province also plans to introduce unified planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of charging facilities in residential areas.
