Digital life can be challenging for older generations to adapt, whether it’s mobile payment or ride-hailing, and there’s a clear need to lower tech barriers for seniors. Nanjing has stepped up measures to help older people better access digital technology.
The capital city of Jiangsu Province now opens 500 training stations in neighborhoods so the elderly can get familiar with technological innovations. Data showed over 3,300 people participated workshops on smartphone use in the first quarter.
The teaching includes both the basic understanding of a digital device and applications in daily life, according to Nanjing Civil Affairs Bureau. A teaching resources database for the elderly will be launched, according to the plan.
