The 9th batch of Jiangsu officials sent to work in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region returned to Nanjing on January 6 after completing a three-year mission in the northwestern Chinese region.

Guo Wenqi, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and also head of the Organization Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met the officials at the airport and delivered a speech.

Guo said members of the team have withstood the difficulties and made new progress during their service in Xinjiang, improving knowledge and awareness about Party spirit, national unity, and anti-secession struggle. Jiangsu officials have showed great work ethos and high standards in the new era, enriched the spirit of pairing assistance to Xinjiang, and contributed to the progress and social stability in the autonomous region.

Guo also said the returned officials will carry forward the higher standards, double their efforts, and play more important roles in the province’s pursuing a quality-orientated development.

Pairing assistance is a national strategy in China to channel financial and personnel support to less developed regions including Xinjiang. As part of the program, cadres from developed regions are sent to work and hold tenures in the autonomous region.
