Subscribers of China Mobile in Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi and Zhenjiang cities began to enjoy the standalone (SA) 5G networking modes, a technical update to the previous service, from October 10.
The Jiangsu branch of China Mobile has built over 34,000 5G base stations all connected to the core network of 5G SA. The 5G service is becoming more stable and widely available in province's 13 cities that have subordinate districts as well as key towns. Efforts have also been made to ensure 5G coverage in key transportation hubs, governmental buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, scenic areas and star hotels.
Non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) are two 5G tracks that communication service providers can opt for when transitioning from 4G to the next-generation mobile technology. The global mobile industry is seeing an evolution from NSA to SA as 5G commercial development continues.
