A team of medical experts from China arrived at La Guaira, Venezuela on March 30, local time, to help the country fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The team, organized by the National Health Commission, consists of eight experts selected by the health commission of Jiangsu Province. Those experts come from Jiangsu People’s Hospital, Jiangsu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jiangsu Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and Nanjing Gulou Hospital, and they are mostly specialized in respiratory illness, critical cares, infectious disease control, testing, traditional Chinese medicine, and nursing.

The team will help local authorities assess the COVID-19 responses, share ideas on pandemic control and prevention, offer specific suggestions and guidance, and provide medical assistance to personnel in Chinese-funded enterprises, students and overseas Chinese.

The team also brought with them a batch of medical supplies including ventilators, portable color doppler ultrasound machines, nucleic acid test kit, surgical masks, medical protective suits, isolation gowns and medicines.

Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu Province, met the medical team on the morning of March 28, promising the province will ensure medical and life supplies, offer support to their family members and assist their efforts in Venezuela.
