China Medical City on January 6 hosted a signing ceremony for its cooperation with the China National Center for Biotechnology Development and the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) for building a regional research center of ICGEB.

China Medical City is a national-level pharmaceutical high-tech park in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province. The ICGEB is a unique intergovernmental organization initially established in 1983 as a special project of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

According to the agreement, the multi-purpose facility will focus on conducting scientific researches in the fields of viruses, biotherapeutics, and diagnostics. It aims to become a hub of high-end technological innovation and transfer, a demonstration site of technology commercialization, a talent training establishment, and a R&D powerhouse of world-class drugs, with broader influences in the Asia-Pacific region.
