Jiangsu’s 28 key transportation projects this year held a joint launching ceremony on April 28.
With a total investment of about 40 billion yuan, the construction covers road, railway, waterway and civil aviation projects in southern, central and northern Jiangsu.
The projects include the Dalu General Aviation Airport in Zhenjiang City, the first airport in the province to have both land runaway and water-borne runway on the Yangtze River. Jiangsu will also make the development of Grand Canal Cultural Belt a role model project and promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. As a centerpiece of the projects, the second river-cross channel, combining the tunnel, bridge and the two-way six-lane road, is 11.8 kilometers long and has a total investment of 14.15 billion yuan. The infrastructure will open to the public in 2025.
Despite the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak, Jiangsu’s transportation sector has doubled efforts to accelerate the construction of major projects, completing investment of 29 billion yuan in the first quarter, year-on-year growth of 14.4 percent.
